As per the data released by IMIDRO, Major Iranian steelmakers exported around 2,623,661 MT of Steel during first four months of current Persian year (21 Mar-22 Jul’18). Exports increased by around 13% Y-o-Y. Standalone during the fourth month export was noted to be around 715,869 MT, by registered a growth of 21% Y-o-Y.
Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) was by far the largest exporter during the period, the company exported around 959,008 MT steel during the period. The company registered a growth of around 4% Y-o-Y. Standalone during the fourth month, export was noted to be around 194,712 up by 68% Y-o-Y.
KSC heavily relies on exports, it had to ramp up shipments before it lost all footholds in foreign markets due to US Sanctions.
KSC exports to over a dozen countries. About half of the exports go to the Middle East and North Africa region. Other major export destinations include Far East and Americas.
Major steel products exported by KSC were Slab (405,458 MT), Billet (280,837 MT) and Bloom (272,713 MT).
Mobarekeh Steel Company (MSC) was the second largest exporter of steel during the period, the company exported 459,613 MT in 4 months, registered a growth of 58% Y-o-Y. During the fourth month, company exported 117,512 MT.
Major steel products exported by MSC were HRC (227,639 MT), Slab (212,018 MT) and other finished flat steel (19,684 MT).
Hormozgan Steel Company (HOSCO) remained the third largest position of steel exporter in Iran exporting 373,549 MT Slabs during the period. Exports were up by 5% Y-o-Y.
Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) exported 369,604 MT of steel during the four months of current Persian year. Exports were down by 22% Y-o-Y.
Major product exported by ESCO were rebar (61,980 MT), followed by beam (35,176 MT) and coil (19,962 MT). Steel products listed as “other” made up 252,486 MT of all the exports.
Other major exporters includes South Kaveh Steel (343,000 MT) and Khorasan Steel (75,697 MT).
