Turkey, the world’s largest scrap importer has developed its Finish long steel imports in first half (H1) of CY18 against the same period of CY17.
As per the customs, the nation has imported about 501,788 MT Finish Long steel in H1 CY18, up by around 20.8% against 415,358 MT in H1 CY17.
However, on monthly comparison the Finish long steel imports down by 17.24% to 72,905 MT in Jun’18 as compared to 88,097 MT in May’18.
Similarly, down fall has been observed by around 14.17% on yearly premises against 84,951 MT in Jun’17.
Under Finish Long commodities following HS Codes has been considered – Bar & Rod (HS Code 7213 & 7214), MS Wire (HS Code 7217) along with Angle & Shapes (HS Code 7215 & 7216).
Structure (Angle and Shapes) have contributed the major import proportionate during H1 CY18 and registered at 261,576 MT (+70%) followed by Bar’s & Rods 210,268 MT (-12%) and remaining Wire Rod 29,944 MT (+35%). The changes are mentioned are compared to H1 CY17.

Country wise:
During H1 CY18, the largest exporter of Finish Long Steel was Spain – 171,042 MT (+32%), United Kingdom – 105,910 MT (+73%) & Russia stood at 37,295 MT (+64%).
