The London based steel trader Stemcor's Indian subsidiary Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (BRPL) has clarified and denied reports that its 4 MnTPA Iron ore pellet plant is up for sale.
A senior BRPL official has said that the company has not taken any final decision for sale of the pellet plant. However, he gave enough signals that Stemcor's stake in Aryan Mining & Trading Corporation (AMTC) might be auctioned.
The senior official said this amid reports that Stemcor has approached several Indian steel producers to sell its assets in India which includes a 4 MnTPA pellet plant and pipeline in Odisha, its stake in the Kolkata based AMTC and 10% stake in MESCO Steel. Sources also highlight that plant is functioning properly.
BRPL has a 4 MnTPA beneficiation plant at Barbil, Odisha, and a pellet plant complex at Jajpur, connected by a 220 km underground slurry pipeline.
The company has recently started production with 30% capacity along with the operation of the pipeline.According to media reports, companies like JSPL, JSW, Tata and Essar have evinced interest to buy the property.
