Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), oldest Blast Furnace-1 in BSP (Bhilai Steel Plant) which was on shut down since start of Feb’18 owing to repairs and maintenance, has resumed production on 01 Aug’18 as reported by company.

The hot metal production capacity of Blast furnace-1 is near about 1,700-1,800 MT per day, equivalent to 6 lakh MT per annum.

In total, there are eight blast furnaces installed in SAIL-BSP unit with a combined hot metal production capacity to about 7.5 MnT per annum after consideration of expansion plans, as per details mentioned in company’s website.

Out of above 8 Furnaces installed in the BSP, four are on running condition while the rest are on repair & maintenance from the last few months including Blast furnace-1, which restarted on 1st August as per a company official.
