SCCL: Coal Production Down 11% M-o-M in Jul’18

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the coal miner operating in Telangana, has reported its lowest monthly production and dispatch for the FY19 in Jul’18.

SCCL coal production stood 4.43 MnT in Jul’18. Monthly output had fallen 11% from 4.96 MnT in Jun’18, but was slightly higher on the year than the levels attained in Jul’17.

During the first 4 months of FY19 (Apr’18-Jul’18), SCCL’s coal production has recorded a modest growth of 1% to 19 MnT compared with the corresponding period’s total of 18.73 MnT managed in FY18. The year to day production, however, remained 8% short of its target of 20.64 MnT.

SCCL’s monthly coal dispatch had fallen below the 5 MnT mark for the first time in FY19, was marked at 4.54 MnT in Jul’18. Despite the monthly fall, the company has dispatched 2% more coal than the corresponding monthly production in Jul’18.

During Apr’18-Jul’18, SCCL’s total coal dispatch of 21.42 MnT stands 2.42 MnT higher than the corresponding coal production, which had enabled the company to nearly achieve its dispatch target of 21.44 MnT set for the period.

Area-wise Performance in Jul’18:
Out of the total monthly production, 0.72 MnT coal was produced from Underground projects, while the remaining 3.71 MnT coal was procured from the Open Cast projects.

Highest coal production was recorded in Kothagudem area, where the production had decreased 17% M-o-M to 0.79 MnT in Jul’18.

Coal production at only 3 out of the 11 mining areas of SCCL had recorded noticeable growth from the preceding month, namely-Adriyala Projects, Ramagundam-II and Mandamarri.

Highest coal dispatch in Jul’18 was also recorded from Kothagudem area, followed by Ramagundam-III, Ramagundam-I and Yellandu.

Coal Supply to Power Plants:
SCCL’s coal dispatch to the power plants continued its declining trend in Jul’18.

Coal supplies to Singareni power plant (STPP)had fell 38% M-o-M to 0.199 MnT in Jul’18, while supplies to NTPC’s power plants was down 16% M-o-M to 0.81 MnT in Jul’18 compared with 0.96 MnT in Jun’18.
