India: Coal Import in July up by 24.4% on M-o-M basis

In July '13 (till 30th June), India has imported around 12.5 Million tons (MnT) of coal, out of which 79.1% is Non-coking coal, 19.2% is coking coal and 0.01% is others.

Coal import have improved by 24.4% as compared to June 2013.

Non-coking coal import up by 23.9%. Similarly, Coking coal import rose to 22.6% and other coal import is up by 103.8%.

SteelMint has assessed that the landed materials are pre-booked during April-May '13 when the market was stable and rupees was in the range of 55-56 against US Dollar.

Coal landed in India are majorly for the leading Power and Steel companies including PSU's and Private companies. 

It has been also reported by coal importers that the spot coal market was lull from Mid of June – July 2013.
