India: SAIL Sells 12,500 MT Pig Iron through Auction; Prices Down by INR 400/MT

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), Indian state owned steel maker had floated a auction on 7th July from its Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to sell about 12,500 MT steel grade Pig iron, had received good response on reduced base price by INR 400/MT (USD 6).

As per participants, RSP has received positive response for this tender as the allotted quantity have been sold out with an increase bid prices. The base price for the tender was quoted by RSP at INR 27,650/MT, however the auction were settled at INR 27,700-27,800/MT, ex-plant.

The buyer for the material are heard from Central region – Raigarh & Raipur and from the local market of Odisha.

Prior to this, RSP’s tender was held on 25th June in which the allotted quantity of Pig iron was about 8,500 MT and the company were able to sell about 6,500 MT Pig iron at the base price of INR 28,100/MT ex-plant.

SAIL’s another plants based in West Bengal namely IISCO (Indian Iron & Steel Company) & DSP (Durgapur Steel Plant) are heard to offering Steel grade Pig iron at INR 28,500-28,700/MT, ex-plant. As per participants the deals are taking place on the offer prices by IISCO & DSP for North-east regions.
