Dispatches of chrome ore by Odisha miners have increased substantially by around 22% in Jun’18 against May’18.
Odisha contributes entirely towards Indian Chrome Ore production. TATA Steel, being, one of the largest miners in the region dispatched 130,486 MT of chrome ore in Jun’18 against 130,310 MT in May’18. The company has witnessed a mere increase of about 0.14% in the dispatch of the commodity on M-o-M basis. TATA Steel held 35,619 MT for captive consumption in Jun’18, which is 57% higher to what it was in May’18.
OMC recorded a substantial increase of 39% M-o-M in its Jun’18 Chrome Ore dispatches. OMC dispatched 103,124 MT of Chrome Ore in Jun’18 against 74,078 MT in May’18. B.C. Mohanty & Sons registered an increase of about 13%. Saurabhil Chromite Mines, however, witnessed a substantial decrease of 13% on M-o-M basis on Jun’18.
Such a rise in Chrome Ore dispatch in Jun’18 can be attributed to the rising Ferro Chrome prices, owing to the production cuts in China creating supply shortage and greater demand for imports from India.
