World Crude Steel Output Rises 5% in May’18

According to the recent data released by World Steel Association (WSA) total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries grew by 5% in May’18 to 154.85 MnT against 147.89 MnT in Apr’18.

However on yearly basis the same went higher by 7% in May’18 in comparison to 145.23 MnT in Apr’18.

During first five months of (Jan- May’18) crude steel output is recorded at 727.95 MnT higher by 5% against 695.97 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

SteelMint has analyzed world’s crude steel production numbers of major steel producing countries –

China’s crude steel output rises by 6% M-o-M in May’18 – Nation’s crude steel output rose by 6% in May’18 to 81.12 MnT against 76.69 MnT in Apr’18.However on yearly basis nation’s crude steel output went up by 12% in May’18 against 72.25 MnT in May’17.

However during Jan- May’18 nation’s crude steel output increased by 6.4% to 369.85 MnT against 347.7 MnT in Jan-May’17.

India’s crude steel output inched up marginally in May’18- India’s crude steel output stood at 8.82 MnT,up by 2.4 % in May’18 against 8.61 MnT in Apr’18.However on yearly basis the same went up by 8% against 8.19 MnT in May’17.

During Jan-May’18 the same moved up 5% to 44.12 MnT against 42.14 MnT in Jan-May’17.

Japan’s crude steel output increases by 4% M-o-M in May’18 – Nation’s crude steel output rises by 4.3% to 9.09 MnT in May’18 against 8.71 MnT in Apr’18.On yearly basis the same went up by 2% against 8.92 MnT in May’17

However during Jan-May’18 the same stood at 44.21 MnT which remain largely stable against 43.9 MnT in Jan-May’17.

United States Crude steel Output up by 3% M-o-M in May’18-Nation’s crude steel output stood at 7.10 MnT in May’18 up by 3% on monthly basis against 6.92 MnT in Apr’18.However on yearly basis the same remain largely stable in May’17.

However during Jan-May’18 the same up by 3% to 34.84 MnT which was 33.87 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

South Korea crude steel output fell by 3% M-o-M in May18-South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 6.22 MnT in May’18 up by 5.6% against 5.89 MnT in Apr’18.However on yearly basis the same moved up by 3% against 6.04 MnT in May’17.

However during Jan-May’18 nation’s crude steel output stood at 29.94 MnT in Jan-May’18 up by 4% against 28.84 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

Crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in month of May’18 is as follows Russia: 6.23 MnT Brazil: 2.67 MnT ,Turkey 3.32 MnT and Germany at 3.90 MnT.
