The Department of Mines & Geology, Bangalore has directed all mines in Karnataka to stop mining activities w.e.f. 16th May 2011.*
The mines are ceased to carry out any sort of mining activities viz. mining, transporting, developing, basting, etc. until further orders are issued.
The mines are also informed to surrender all the mineral dispatch permits and relevant trip sheets that were already issued for transportation of the mineral.
The action has been taken in accordance to the order made by the Supreme Court on 6th May 2011 to conduct a joint survey of 99 mining leases mentioned in the Lokayukta Report.
