According to market sources reported to SteelMint, Odisha (east India) based pellet maker – Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (BRPL) has concluded a pellet export deal to China for 50,000 MT for July shipment.
As per sources, the deal has been concluded at around USD 110/ MT CFR China. Pellet price assessment has increased this week against last assessment of USD 106-107/ MT CFR China.
Demand for low alumina content pellets in China has moved up in recent few weeks.
The news of Tangshan in northern China restricting sintering levels by 50-100% and steel rolling production during June 14-17 as a result of another round of environmental regulation stimulated market activity. This has favored usage of pellets & lump in few Chinese provinces.
KIOCL concludes pellet export deal to South Korea
In another deal, a pellet maker from southern India based pellet maker – Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) has also concluded a deal of around 60,000 MT pellets to South Korea this week.
Indian Pellet Export drops 33% in May’18
Indian pellet exports registered a significant decline of 33% to 0.40 MnT in May’18 against 0.59 MnT in Apr’18. JSPL marked the largest pellet exporter for the month of May’18 at 0.15 MnT, accounting for 38% of total exports share, followed by Essar Steel at 0.11 MnT and BRPL at 0.08 MnT.
