According to sources, one of the company in the Marmara region (Turkey) has booked a quantity of 30, 000 MT of the mixed scrap. Out of the total quantity, 8,500 MT were Plate and Structural Scrap, 14,000 MT were HMS 1&2 (90:10) and 7,500 MT were shredded scraps which were quoted at USD 382.5/MT CFR Turkey.
However, scrap price for HMS 1&2 (80:20) was quoted at USD 378/MT CFR Turkey from USD 375/MT CFR Turkey earlier.
Yet another company from the Marmara region (Turkey) has booked a total quantity 45,000 MT of mixed Scrap. Out of which, 25,000MT were HMS (75:25), 5,000 MT were shredded scrap and 15,000 MT were Plate and Structural Scrap from Belgium are around at USD 378/MT CFR Turkey.
On the other side, US merchants have successfully sold 120,000 MT of scrap to South Korean mills at the end of July.
Neither Russian nor Japanese exporters have so far managed transactions in the Far East.
South Korean steelmakers have resumed imports from the USA after a short pause. Hyundai Steel is said to have bought two large batches of HMS 1&2 (30,000 MT and 45,000 MT) at USD 358/MT CFR South Korea and 45,000 MT of busheling scrap
Nominal prices for US HMS 1 are at USD 365-370/MT CFR South Korea as there is no consensus between the parties.
Importers have said that the offers are too high, but merchants are not willing to cut prices pointing to higher prices in Turkish market
