India: Government to bring price pooling policy for Coal

Tuesday, May 24,

The government is devising a policy to bring price pooling of domestic and international coal prices in order to put a check in the rising costs of the coal.*

Earlier this month, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) set up the committee for the same.

The committee will work to bring balance in international and domestic coal prices through price pooling so that the cost of power generation may not rise further, as international coal is expensive and the domestic coal is insufficient for the plants.

In the process of pooling, Government is considering price parity for the domestic and international prices of coal that enable uniformity of rates for all consumers.
