South Korea: Ferro Alloy Imports Falls in May’18

According to the South Korean customs, the country has witnessed a decrease of 8% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloy imports.

In May’18, South Korea imported a total of 78,457 MT Ferro Alloys against 85,383 MT in Apr’18. However, on yearly basis, there has again been an increase of 21% Y-o-Y as South Korea imported 65,139 MT in May’17.

In May’18, Korea imported 51,149 MT of Ferro Chrome, 19,339 MT Ferro Silicon, and 7,970 MT Silico Manganese. South Korea recorded an increase of 7% M-o-M in its Ferro Chrome imports as it imported 47,899 MnT in Mar’18. While Ferro Silicon and Silico Manganese imports by South Korea witnessed a fall of 17% and 44% M-o-M respectively.

India surpassed South Africa to be the largest exporter Ferro Alloys to South Korea, recording export sales volume at 30,120 MT in May’18, witnessing a massive increase of 126% M-o-M. South Africa, on the other hand, recorded a substantial decrease in its exports by 54% M-o-M in May’18, followed by China and Malaysia, which also registered a decrease in their exports, among others.
