India: SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant Invites Tender for 300,000 MT Pellet Purchase

One of the units of SAIL – Bokaro Steel plant with 5.2 MnT liquid steel production capacity invited a tender of 3, 00,000 MT pellets. The company has five 2000-cubic meter Blast Furnaces that produce molten iron – Hot Metal – for steel making. As per sources, the company is facing a shortage of lumps owing to hampered movement from its captive mines because of which the company is in immediate need of pellets.

The company has announced a due date for techno-commercial bid on and before 19th June 2018 till 14:30 hrs (IST).

The techno-commercially acceptable offers against this OTE will be frozen for a period of 2 years, which is extendable for 1 more year at the discretion of SAIL/BSL.

Steelmaker mentioned certain criteria like delivery shall commence within two months from the date of the formal purchase order and continue for 06 months maximum and mode of delivery will only by rail.

Bokaro, Steel the fourth integrated plant in the Public Sector and the country’s first indigenous Steel Plant, built with maximum indigenous content. The plant is undergoing a mass modernization drive after which its output capacity is expected to cross 10 MnT.

Domestic Pellet Prices in Eastern India remain under pressure –:

In Durgapur (eastern India) Reference pellet price assessment stands at INR 5,900/MT (delivered) this week. Pellet prices in Durgapur have decreased up to INR 150/MT W-o-W. Another eastern region Barbil (Odisha) pellet prices are loaded to wagons assessment for this week is at INR 5400-5,500/MT against INR5,500/MT last week.
