Qatar Steel – one of the leading integrated steel mill in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region. Qatar Steel operates Electric Arc Furnaces, Continuous Casting plants, DRI plants and rolling mills. As per company reports, Qatar Steel’s production of crude steel (billets) stood at 2,521 KMT in 2016 compared to 2,594 KMT.
According to market sources report to SteelMint, the steel mill has concluded export tender for 40,000 MT billets. The tender was floated for 150*150mm billets with 3 SP grade. As per sources, the deal has been concluded at USD 550-555/MT, CFR levels and the cargo is likely to be shipped to South Asian countries like Sri Lanka etc.
