South Africa: Manganese Ore Exports Rises by 18% in Mar’18

According to South African customs, the country has witnessed a substantial increase of 18% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore exports in Mar’18.

South Africa exported 1.58 MnT in Mar’18 against 1.35 MnT in Feb’18. Moreover, on yearly basis, South African Manganese Ore exports recorded a substantial increase of 22% as it was 1.3 MnT in Mar’17.

Taking stock of the rising price for the commodity prompted importers to elevate their buying volume to safeguard against buying at even higher prices, as major importers such as China and India, also maintained its import levels amid uneasy market.

China was the largest importer of South African Manganese Ore witnessing an increase of 14% M-o-M in Mar’18 followed by India, Japan, and South Korea among others.
