According to the recent data released by World Steel Association (WSA), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries moved up by 4% in Q1 CY18 to 426.55 MnT in comparison to 408.53 MnT in similar quarter of previous year.
However on monthly basis the same increased by 12% to 148.33 MnT in Mar’18 against 132.38 MnT in Feb’18. Although on Y-o-Y basis it rose by 4% in Mar’18 over 142.66 MnT in Mar’17.

China’s crude steel output rises by 6% in Q1CY18-Nation’s crude steel output rose by 6% in Q1CY18 and stood at 212.15 MnT in Q1CY18 against 199.72 MnT in Q1CY17.However on monthly basis,China’s crude steel production surged by 14% in Mar’18 to 73.98 MnT as compared to 64.93 MnT in Feb’18.However on yearly basis the same moved up by 4% in Mar’18 over previous year.
India’s crude steel output moved up by 4.3% in Q1 CY18 – According to data released by World Steel Association, India’s crude steel output stood at 26.67 MnT,up by 4.3% in Q1CY18 against 25.56 MnT in similar quarter of previous year.However on monthly basis India’s crude steel output edged up by 9.3% in Mar’18 to 9.22 MnT which was 8.43 MnT a month ago.On Y-o-Y basis the same moved up 5.2% against 8.76 MnT in Mar’17.
Japan’s crude steel output remain largely stable -Nation’s crude steel output remain largely stable at 26.4 MnT in Q1CY18 against 26.2 MnT in previous quarter. However on monthly basis,nation’s crude steel output jumped by 10% to 9.08 MnT in Mar’18 against 8.29 MnT in Feb’18.On yearly basis the same moved up by 3% in Mar’18 against 8.88 MnT in Mar’17.
South Korea crude steel output rises by 3% in Q1CY18- South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 17.79 MnT in Q1CY18 moved up by 3% Y-o-Y in against 17.3 MnT in similar quarter.On monthly basis,South Korea crude steel output climbed by 13% in Mar’18 to 6.09 MnT against 5.41 MnT in Feb’18.However on yearly basis the same moved up 5% in Mar ’18 against 5.82 MnT in previous year.
Crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in month of Q1 CY18 is as follows United States : 20.74 MnT, Russia: 16.55 MnT Brazil: 8.64 MnT ,Turkey 9.54 MnT and Germany 11 MnT.
