Pakistan Bulk Import Increases in Mar’18

Pakistan bulk imports increased by 116% M-o-M with rise in demand of coal from power and cement sector. HRC import recorded at 0.1 MnT in Mar’18.

Coal import supported with fall in global prices and increase in availability of coal at South Africa and Indonesia ports, import from South Africa was up by 121% in Mar’18 M-o-M.

As per vessel line up data, no scrap import shipment was recorded in March. Bulk scrap import in April expected to remain silent as no fresh deals was heard owing to devaluation of Pakistan currency against USD and as per traders current price is higher in global market.

There was consecutive increase in monthly import shipment of HRC from japan and Russia from 51,000 MT in Dec’17 to 113,100 MT in Mar’18.
