Japan’s Kobe Steel Likely to Finance Iranian Chadormalu’s Pellet Grinding Unit

Iran’s Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, one of the main Iron Ore Concentrate producer for Iron Making by Direct Reduction in Iran, intends to co-operate with Kobe Steel to finance the construction of its new 4 MnT pellet grinding unit. Initial talks with Kobe Steel has begun and are waiting for confirmation, according to Chadormalu mining and industrial company.

According to Mr. Hadi Bashir Rad, Director of Administrative Affairs and Human Resources “One new unit of 4 MnT of pellet grinding plant is planned to be build in Ardakan Industrial Park, initial negotiations with Kobe Steel has begun and are waiting for finance. The total investment in this project is around 9000 Billion Rials.”

The ongoing project to increase the capacity of the Ardakan pelleting plant by the end of 1396(21 Mar’17-20 Mar’18) was due to be completed. According to which 600,000 MT was supposed to be added to the 3.40 MnT existing capacity to reach 4 MnT. In the year 1397 (21 mar’18-20 Mar’19), we put the program at 3.70 MnT, which is 300,000 MT short for the development plan.

Talking about other projects, Mr Bashir Rad said “A rolling project is underway, 2 units of 550,000 MT are being built alongside steelworks. The investment of this project is 4000 billion Rials. They are considering financing this project through European banks.

He added “the direct recovery unit in the vicinity of the steel plant is under construction. Which has already achieved 82 percent physical progress, with the launch of the unit expected to be exploited in the first half of next year, 1.55 MnT of sponge iron is expected to be produced annually.
