India: Finish Long Steel Production fall by 3% in Feb’18

As per the recent data released by Joint Plant Committee, Finish long (Bar & rods and Structures) steel production in India by both large and medium/small scale producers stood at 3.85 MnT in Feb 2018

The production dropped by around 1% Y-o-Y in Feb’18 against 3.87 MnT in Feb’17. Further, on monthly basis i:e; Feb’18 it went down by around 3.27% with 3.85 MnT compared with 3.98 MnT in Jan’18.

On monthly analysis in Feb’18, Finish long production by the large scale makers i:e; SAIL registered around 0.38 MnT (-7.32%) followed by RINL 0.31 MnT (-18.42%), JSW 0.21 MnT (-4.55%), Tata Steel 0.26 MnT (0%) and JSPL 0.12 MnT (0%). The changes in production are compared with Jan’18 figures.

– According to vessel line up data managed by SteelMint, JSW Steel remained the largest rebar (TMT) exporter in Feb’18 (29,800 MT) followed by Beekay Steel (11,200 MT), JSPL (10,500 MT) & SAIL (5,000 MT).

– The Indian large producers have raised domestic rebar prices by around INR 2,000/MT in Feb’18 & around INR 1,000/MT in Mar’18. The latest price range of Rebar for 12-25 mm assessed at INR 44,000-45,000/MT ex-works, Mumbai.
