According to Chinese customs, the country has witnessed a decrease of 4% M-o-M in its Chrome Ore imports in Feb’18.
China imported 1.19 MnT Chrome Ore in Feb’18 against 1.24 MnT in Jan’18. Moreover, on yearly basis, Chinese Chrome Ore imports recorded a decrease of 21% as it was 1.51 MnT in Feb’17.
Rising Chrome Ore import prices took a toll on Chinese buyers, as the South African Rand appreciated against USD. Moreover, logistical issues in South Africa also remained a challenge for China to import from the region.
South Africa, is the largest exporter of Chrome Ore to China and has witnessed a decrease of 8% M-o-M as it exported 0.87 MnT in Feb’18 against 0.95 MnT in Jan’18. Turkey, Zimbabwe, and Oman were also significant Chrome Ore exporters to China among others.
