India’s Crude Steel Output Drops 7% M-o-M in Feb’18

According to provisional data released by Joint Plant Committee (Govt. of India) India’s crude steel output stood at 8.43 MnT in Feb’18 as compared to 9.028 MnT in Jan’18.Thus nation’s crude steel output witnessed fall of 7% in Feb’18.

However on yearly basis the same inched up by 4% in Feb’18 against 8.11 MnT in Feb’17.

Although nation’s crude steel output stood at 93.11 MnT, registered the growth of 4.4% during Apr-Feb’18 over the similar time period previous year.

Flat steel output move down significantly in Feb’18-In Feb’18 flat steel production was assessed at 1.99 MnT decline significantly against 4.59 MnT in Jan’18.In the month of Feb’18 HRC/Plate stood at 0.88 MnT,CRC at 0.17 MnT followed by Galvanized steel at 0.65 MnT.

Tata Steel Kalinganagar Plant Undergoes unplanned shutdown-On 29 Jan’18, the blast furnace at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant witness unplanned shutdown due to technical issues affecting the company’s annual target to achieve 3 MnT of crude steel in current fiscal of FY18. Since the downstream operations are integrated to the blast furnace resulting to shutdown of Steel Melting Shop (SMS) and Hot Strip Mill (HSM) subsequently.

India’s finished steel export increased significantly in Feb’18-In Feb’18 nation’s finish steel export volumes surge rapidly and stood at 0.65 MnT higher by 18% against 0.55 MnT in preceding month.

On yearly basis the same showed decline of 4.4% in Feb’18 against 0.68 MnT in Feb’17.

So far in (Apr-Feb’18) nation’s export volumes summed up at 8.073 MnT increase by 33% against corresponding time frame of previous year.

India’s consumption of finished steel declined marginally in Feb’18-Nation witnessed marginal decline in finished steel consumption by 2%,M-o-M basis which stood at 6.96 MnT in Feb’18 which was assessed at 7.11 MnT in Jan’18.
