Russian steelmakers exported 1.20 MnT of billets during the first month of the current calendar year, registering a 13.04% decline compared with last year’s December month, Russian customs data reported.
The export volume for the nation in January 2017 was at 1.18 MnT, up 1.69% year-on-year in CY18.
Further, higher billet export offers resulted decline in billet exports from Russia, the billet exports from Russia to Taiwan decline by 0.02 MnT on monthly basis in Jan’18 against 0.24 MnT in Dec’17
Taiwan has imported approximately 18.29% (0.22 MnT) billet from Russia and maintains the top number in January 2018, followed by Mexico (17.74) & Egypt (17.20%). Taiwan imported around 22.94% of the total billet exported by Russia in the calendar year of 2017. It may also be mentioned that Taiwan has been the largest importer since CY 2016, while in CY 2015 Turkey topped the list.
In context to export prices, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 525-535/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 540-550/MT FoB Ukraine & 125*125 are at USD 560-570/MT CNF Turkey.
