Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd (MCL) has awarded the job of setting up of Ib Valley Coal Washery in Lakhanpur area to Global Coal & Mining Pvt Ltd (GCMPL), which had emerged as the lowest bidder in the E-auction process.
The coal washery would be set-up on BOM (Build-Operate-Maintenance) concept, within 18 months from the date of signing the contract. The wining firm, Global Coal & Mining, would take care of the Operations and Maintenance of the coal washery for a period of 10 years, with a provision of renewal for each term of 5 years based upon review by MCL.
The rated capacity of the Ib Valley coal washery has been set 10 MnTPA (Million Tonne per annum) of raw coal (as received basis). However, Plant would be designed on 10 MnTPA raw coal (on dry basis).
The objective of setting a coal washery is to perform effective cleaning of coal, so as reduce ash content. The operating cost for the Ib Valley project has been set INR 104/MT (inclusive of levies and taxes) + GST 18% GST (i.e. INR 18.72) per tonne of raw coal on dry basis for the first year of commercial operation.
Upon the instruction of CIL, MCL has been emphasizing to build 4-Coal washeries of 10 MnTPA in the first phase namely Hingula washery, Basundhara washery in Kulda OCP, Ib Valley washery and Jagannath washery.
While under the second phase, the company is planning to build 3 more washeries-Lakhanpur (20 MnTPA), Garjanbahal ( 10 MnTPA) and Siyarmal ( 40 MnTPA).
