South Africa- the largest exporter of ferro alloys witnessed a rise in its ferro alloy exports in Jan’18 against exports recorded in Dec’17. As per recent customs data, South Africa exported 3.06 MnT ferro alloy in Jan’18 which rose by 20% M-o-M as against 2.65 MnT ferro alloy exports in Dec’17.
On yearly premises, ferro alloy exports from South Africa witnessed a substantial increase of 39% Y-o-Y in Jan’18 against 2.2 MnT ferro alloy exports in Jan’17.
Exported ferro alloys from South Africa majorly consisted of Manganese Ore followed by Chrome Ore, Ferro Chrome, and Silicon Manganese.
South Africa exported 1.46 MnT Manganese Ore in Jan’18 witnessing an increase of 9% M-o-M against 1.34 MnT in Dec’17. Similarly, Chrome Ore and Ferro Chrome exports by South Africa registered an increase of 28% and 32% M-o-M in Jan’18. While Silico Manganese exports by South Africa is 0.02 MnT in Jan’18 against null in Dec’17.

China remained the largest importer of South African ferro alloy at 1.55 MnT witnessing a fall of 12% M-o-M against 1.38 MnT in Dec’17. Mozambique, India, Ukraine, and Russia were the other prominent importers of South African ferro alloys.
