Iran’s DRI Production by Major Companies Increases by 15% in Current Persian Year

Iran, one of the largest producer of DRI in world has witnessed an increase in DRI production. According to IMIDRO, Major steel manufacturers of Iran has produced 17,406,706 MT DRI during first 11 months of current Persian year (21 Mar- 19 Feb’18). Production was up by around 15% Y-o-Y against around 15,105,566 MT produced in last Persian year.

Mobarekah Steel was the largest manufacture of DRI in Iran during current Persian year, the company produced around 6,694,575 MT DRI, registered a growth of 12% Y-o-Y against 5,977,299 MT produced in last Persian year.

Khouzestan Steel was the second largest DRI producer during the current Persian year. The company produced around 3,708,940 MT DRI in current year by registering a growth of 9% Y-o-Y against 3,402,697 MT produced in last Persian year.

Other major producers includes HOSCO (1,437,621 MT), South Kaveh Steel (1,437,921 MT), Khorasan Steel (1,128,756 MT) and Saba Steel (1,022,248 MT).

Persian Gulf Saba steel, one of the largest steel plant of Iran has inaugurated the first phase of HBI Plant. This plant with direct reduction Iron method is commissioned with Midrex technology of HBI. Currently company has the production capacity of 1.5 MnT of steel billets, and planning to expand the capacity to 4.5 MnT.

The first phase of HBI Plant of Persian Gulf Saba Steel was inaugurated by the President Hassan Rouhani and was attended by the assistant ministers of industry, mining and trade. According to Saba Steel Managing Director Morteza Yazdkhasti, Persian Gulf Saba Steel complex, the Iranian HBI plant has a production capacity of 1.5 MnT per year.

Iran Billet and Bloom Production by Major Steel Companies Increases by 28% Y-o-Y

Major Iranian steel manufacturers has produced 6,537,204 MT of billet and bloom during the first 11 months of current Persian year, registered a growth of 28% Y-o-Y against 5,108,566 MT produced in last Persian year.

Khouzestan Steel Company was the largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year, the company produced 2,146,401 MT of billet and bloom during the period, registered a growth of 5.90% Y-o-Y against 2,043,747 MT during the same period but last year.

Esfahan Steel Company was the second largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year. The company produced 2,093,746 MT bloom in current Persian year, by registering a growth of 4% Y-o-Y against 2,013,217 MT produced in last Persian year.

Khorasan Steel was the third largest producer of billet and bloom, followed by South Kaveh Steel and Iran Alloy Steel Company with production of 760,739 MT billet, 744,271 MT billet and 369,254 MT bloom.

Iran Slab Production by Major Companies Increases by 15% Y-o-Y

Mobarekah Steel Company was the largest producer of Slab during the first 11 Months of current Persian year. The company produced 5,950,143 MT during the period, registered a growth of 16% Y-o-Y against 5,129,434 MT produced in last Persian year.

Khouzestan Steel was the second largest producer of slab in the nation during the period. The company produced 1,295,355 MT of slab in current Persian year, registered a growth of 3% Y-o-Y against 1,257,626 MT produced in last Persian year.

Hormozgan Steel, a subsidiary of MSC, was the third largest producer of slab in current Persian year, followed by Saba Steel. The companies produced 1,287,948 MT and 719,646 MT respectively with growth of 26% and 19% Y-o-Y respectively.
