Despite low buying interest, domestic scrap prices remain firm

Domestic
Scrap prices remain unchanged at most of places due to the following reasons:

Scrap prices are already high at places like Raipur and Jalna.

– Lower buying interest from the steel manufacturers
particularly as they are operating at lower capacities.

*
However, Scrap in Mandi Gobindgarh and Durgapur was traded at Rs
26,900-27,000/MT and Rs 26,700-26,800/MT respectively. Prices went up by Rs
100-200/MT from the previous quotes on some improvement seen in the Ingot
prices.

Trader, Alang: “The stability in the domestic Scrap prices at present is said to be short-lived.
Demand from places like Hyderabad, Mumbai is comparatively better but it can’t
be said as good.  Prices have moved up by
around Rs 500/MT over the week and we hope prices to move up further in the
days to come.”
