>>The Adani Group is looking for acquiring coal mines in countries, like Indonesia and Russia, as its exiting coal mine in Australia is embroiled in a controversy. The rationale behind the prospective acquisitions lies in the consumption of coal expected to rise in the Asian nations, such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.
According to the available statistics, Pakistan imported 11.2 MnT in 2017, and the consumption is projected to rise to around 40 MnT by 2025. Likewise, coal imports in Bangladesh also are expected to go up to substantial levels due to the emphasis of that government of thermal power generation.
>> Coking Coal imports in China were around 16.06% higher in Dec’17 over the imports in the preceding month. The higher imports were due to the steel makers stocking the coal ahead of the New Year holidays in Australia.
