USA is the world’s sixth largest steel exporter has reported surge in flat steel export volumes by 22% in CY17. Country’s major importing nations were Mexico,Canada and India in CY17.
According to latest customs data, USA flat steel exports which includes (7208 HR coils/Plates,7209 CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets registered increase of 20% in CY17 against CY16.
Nation has exported 5.54 MnT of flat steel in CY17 against 4.61 MnT in CY16.
On monthly premises,flat steel exports witness decline by 16% in Dec’17 as USA flat steel exports was assessed at 0.38 MnT in Dec’17 in comparison to 0.45 MnT in Nov’17.
Although on Y-o-Y basis nation’s flat steel exports remained constant at 0.38 MnT in CY17 and CY16.

Country-Wise USA Flat Steel Exports in CY17-In CY17 Mexico was the major flat steel importer from USA and has accounted for 47.68% of share (2.64 MnT, up by 25% Y-o-Y.Second largest importer of flat steel from USA was Canada with 45.46% of share (2.52 MnT, up 15% Y-o-Y) and third largest importer was India which accounted for 1% of share (0.06 MnT).
However on monthly basis nation has exported 0.18 MnT of flat steel to Mexico, down by 14.2% M-o-M basis in Dec’17 against 0.21 MnT in Nov’17.
Other major importer of USA flat steel is Canada which has imported 0.17 MnT in Dec’17 decline by 15% to 0.20 MnT in Nov’17.
