China: Met Coke Exports Rise in Dec’17 M-o-M, Sink Y-o-Y

In Dec’17, Met Coke exports from China were up by around 0.15 MnT over the exports in Nov’17, an analysis of the recently released data by China Customs shows. The rise in the exports were due to the higher prices of Coking Coal, due to which the steel makers found it convenient to use more Met Coke during their steel production process.

In the last month of 2017, around 1.07 MnT of Met Coke was exported from that country against around 0.88 MnT in the penultimate month of the last year.

Out of the exporting destinations, Japan accounted for the highest share in the exports, followed by India and Malaysia.

In 2017, around 7.26 MnT of Met Coke was exported from that country, and that was however lower than the exports of around 10.12 MnT by 28.2%.
