>> Korea Southern Power Company Limited has purchased 435,000 MT of South African Coal through a tender which closed on Monday. The calorific value of the coal was 5,700 KCAL/KG.
>> China will add at least 200 MnT of rail freight coal capacity in 2018 that will include at least 150 MnT of Thermal Coal capacities, according to the National Development and Reform Commission of China. The planned move is an effort to reduce pollution emanating from transportation by road. The increment is 2018 will be higher by 5% than that in 2017.
>> The Delhi High Court has fixed hearing on 7 Feb’18 on the matter of Reliance Power Limited seeking permission to mine additional coal to meet is requirements at its Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project. The company has contended that if another 2 MnT of coal was not allowed to mine exceeding the cap of 17 MnT in the current fiscal, then the company will not be able to meet the requirement of its 14 discoms, spread across 14 states.
