China: Ferro Alloy Imports Down by 10% in Dec’17

According to the Chinese customs, the country has witnessed a fall of 9% in its Ferro Alloy imports.

In Dec’17, China imported a total of 1.38 MnT Ferro Alloys against 1.53 MnT in the previous month. Moreover, on yearly basis, there has been a decrease of 7% as China imported 1.29 MnT in Dec’16.

However, Chinese ferroalloy imports in CY17 at 17.24 MnT witness an increase of 14% against that of CY16 at 15.13 MnT.

In Dec’17, China imported 0.18 MnT of Ferro Chrome and 1.20 MnT Chrome Ore. Chrome Ore imports witnessed a decrease of 7% M-o-M while Ferro Chrome import is down by 25%.

South Africa is the largest exporter of Ferroalloys to China at 1.00 MnT in Dec’17, registering a decrease of 8% M-o-M, followed by Zimbabwe, Turkey and Kazakhstan.
