Tata Steel’s One of HSM Mills Undergoing Unplanned Shutdown-Sources

Tata steel’s one of HSM (Hot Strip Mill) in its Jamshedpur facility has been undergoing partial and unplanned maintenance shutdown, said market sources.

Market participants reported that due maintenance shut down, supply of HRC is affected in eastern region. If sources are to be believed, production loss of 120,000 MT per month is expected.

Trade sources shared that yesterday there was a meeting called on to discuss the raw material availability issue.

According to company reports, the HSM mill in Jamshedpur plant is capable to address requirements of maximum thickness of 12 mm,width 860-1540 mm with maximum tensile strength of 450 MPa.

Tata Steel – India’s 3rd largest steel producer in terms of steel production has registered the growth of 7% Q-o-Q basis in its its crude steel output to 3.24 MnT in Q3 FY18 as compared to 3.03 MnT in Q2 FY18. On yearly basis basis company’s crude steel production fell marginally by 1.2% in Q3 FY18 against 3.28 MnT in Q3 FY1
