Russia: Flat Steel Exports Inch Up 6% M-o-M in Nov’17

Russia- world’s 3rd largest steel exporter has witnessed increase in monthly flat steel export volumes.

According to Russian customs data, flat steel exports which includes (7208 – HR coils/Plates,7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) has moved up marginally by 6% on monthly basis to 0.75 MnT in Nov’17. However nation has exported 0.71 MnT of flat steel in Oct’17.

Although on yearly basis,Russia flat steel exports inched up by 4% in Nov’17 in comparison to 0.72 MnT in Nov’16.

In tenure of eleven months of CY17 (Jan-Nov) Russian flat steel exports recorded at 8.45 MnT, marginally up by 2.3% which was at 8.26 MnT in the similar time-frame of preceding year.

Turkey which has remained major importer of flat steel from Russia has reduced imports in Nov’17. Imports have come down by 33% from 0.27 MnT in Oct’17 to 0.18 MnT in Nov’17. Tosyali-Toyo, started production at its Osmaniye flat steel facility in southern Turkey in October 2017, adding to country’s flat steel production.

Russia flat steel exports to Vietnam increased significantly in Nov’17– In Nov’17,Vietnam imported 0.08 MnT flat steel from Russia in Nov’17, highest so far in CY17.

Other major importers of flat steel from Russia in the month of November are Belarus (0.05 MnT) followed by Egypt (0.02 MnT) and Iran at (0.07 MnT).

In the time span of Jan-Nov’17,Russia has exported 32% ( summed up-to 2.70 MnT) of share flat steel to Turkey.Other major countries include Egypt 0.43 MnT (5.06%), Iran 0.52 MnT (6.15%) and Belarus 0.58 MnT (6.80%) in similar time period.
