Canada: Iron Ore Exports up 25% M-o-M in Nov’17

Trade statistics released by Canada customs shows that the iron ore exports by the country were recorded at 4.16 MnT in Nov’17.

The iron ore exports recorded an increase of 25% M-o-M in Nov’17, as against 3.33 MnT in Oct’17. The Y-o-Y in Nov’17 witnessed a rise of 5% as compared to Nov’16 which was 3.97 MnT.

During Jan-Nov’17, the country witnessed a marginal decline of 2% Y-o-Y, in its iron ore exports to 37.35 MnT as compared to 38.06 MnT in the same period previous year.

The Non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed an increase of 24% to 2.93 MnT in Nov’17 as against 2.36 MnT in Oct’17. The Y-o-Y exports recorded a hike of 25% in Nov’17 as against 2.35 MnT in Nov’16.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) exports recorded rise of 27% to 1.23 MnT in Nov’17 as against 0.97 MnT in Oct’17.However, it was down 24% Y-o-Y in Nov’17 as compared to Nov’16 which stood at 1.62 MnT.

Country- wise Canada Iron Ore Exports-

China continues to remain the largest iron ore importer from Canada in the month of Nov’17 at 1.04 MnT, contributing one-fourth of total exports from Canada, followed by Japan (0.81 MnT), United Kingdom (0.55 MnT), and France at 0.32 MnT.
