Indian bulk shipments of Re-bar increase multi folds where as billet shipments fall in the month of December’17, according to data managed by SteelMint based on vessel line up at major Indian ports.

Re-bar shipments recorded at 91,685 MT in Dec against 39,270 MT in Nov, where as billets shipments reported dropped from 137,220 MT in Nov to 60,070 MT in Dec 2017.

Indian re-bar is gaining traction in last few months owing to absence of Chinese re-bars in global market. Chinese steel production and exports have dropped owing to government’s directive to operate at lower utilisation levels from November’17 to March’18 to tackle smog problem during winters.

According to the data, JSW shipped three vessels containing around 61,500 MT of Re-bars to Hong Kong and Singapore.
