Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has achieved the highest monthly total for Coal production and dispatch for FY18 in the month of December.
SCCL has reported coal production of 5.68 MnT in Dec’17, which is also their highest monthly total for FY18. Production increased 27% M-o-M compared with 4.49 MnT in Nov’17 but was down 5% on the year compared with 5.95 MnT in Dec’16.
Total coal produced stood 42 MnT during the Apr’17-Dec’17 period, which was slightly lower than the coal output of 42.42 MnT achieved during the same period in 2016.However, the company failed to attain the production target of 45.73 MnT set for the Apr’17-Dec’17 period.
SCCL’s monthly coal dispatch in Dec’17 has also attained its highest value in FY18, but has fallen on the Y-o-Y basis for the first time during the current fiscal. Coal dispatch was 5.96 MnT in Dec’17 against 5.98 MnT in Dec’16. Prior to this, SCCL had registered growth in coal dispatch every single month on the Y-o-Y basis compared to the corresponding monthly dispatches of FY17.

Quantity in MnT
On the Monthly basis, Coal dispatch had increased 5% compared with 5.70 MnT in Nov’17.
On the back of higher coal dispatch, SCCL has achieved the coal dispatch target of 46.19 MnT set for the Apr’17-Dec’17 period. The company had supplied 46.70 MnT coal during the period, which was also 9% higher than the dispatch of 42.70 MnT coal recorded during the same period in 2016.
Area-wise Coal Production in Dec’17:
Out of the total quantity, about 0.693 MnT coal was produced from Underground mining while the remaining 4.982 MnT coal was produced from the Open Cast mining projects.
Coal Production from the Kothagudem area was recorded highest during the month at 1.02 MnT, followed by Ramagundam-I. Only four areas amongst the 11 mining areas of SCCL have achieved their respective production target for the month namely- Kothagudem, Manuguru, Yellandu and Ramagundam-I.
Highest coal dispatch during the month was also recorded from Kothagudem region. Ramagundam-I came second with dispatch of 0.75 MnT coal in Dec’17 followed by Ramagundam-III, Manuguru and Ramagundam-II region.

Coal Supplies to Power Plants:
SCCL Coal supplies to NTPC’s power stations fell 6% M-o-M to 1.128 MnT in Dec’17, compared with 1.198 MnT in Nov’17.
Coal dispatch to its Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) rose 11% M-o-M to 0.574 MnT during the month.
