KSC has been actively floating tender for slab and billet, which is being exported to Far East Asia and GCC. Recently KSC has invited tender for export of 30,000 MT billet and 40,000 MT slab for early Mar’18 and Feb’18 shipment respectively, bidding for same will close on 27 Dec’17 till 18:00 hrs
According to the recent data released by Iran Steel Producer Association (ISPA), Iran exported around 1,900,000 MT slab in first 8 months of current Persian year (21 Mar-21 Nov’17). The nation registered a growth of 171% Y-o-Y against 701,000 MT of slab exported last Persian year.
Major exporters of slab during the period were Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) and Hormozgan Steel Company (HOSCO). KSC being the largest exporter of semi-finished steel has exported around 431,957 MT slab during the period. On parallel line HOSCO exported around 777,897 MT slab in current Persian year.

Iran billet and bloom export increased by around 46% Y-o-Y, the nation exported around 2,325,000 MT billet and bloom in current Persian year against 1,593,000 MT exported in last Persian year. KSC was the largest exporter of billet and bloom in current Persian year, the company exported around 1,300,000 MT of billet and bloom during the period. South Kaveh Steel Company was also one of the major exporter of billet in current Persian year, the company exported 458,000 MT in first 8 months of the year.
Iran DRI export increased by around 550% Y-o-Y, the nation exported around 500,000 MT DRI in current Persian year against 79,000 MT exported in last Persian Year.
Iran exported 189,000 MT rebar in current Persian year, export were up by 27% Y-o-Y against 149,000 MT exported in previous Persian year. Major exporters of rebar during the period were Esfahan Steel Company (103,717 MT) and Khorasan Steel Company (61,542 MT).
Iran Wire rod export increased by 293% Y-o-Y in current Persian year, the nation exported 169,000 MT in current Persian year.
One of the most important reason for increase in rebar and other finished long steel is believed to CARES certification, which major Iranian producers have received in order to export it to UK and GCC.
