Thailand Billet Import Incline by 67% in November – 2017

In the eleventh month of 2017, Thailand customs report showed that the nation has imported about 150,000 MT Billet

The imports have registered a gain of 66.67% M-o-M in Nov’17 against 90,000 MT in Oct’17. During Nov’17, Iran has exported approximately 66% (100,000 MT) of Billet to Thailand. While in Oct’17 the export from Iran was only 20,000 MT.

In contrary, on yearly calculations in Nov’17, imports registered a decline of 72.22% against 0.54 MnT in Nov’16. In line, total imports in Jan-Nov’17, the nation has imported about 1.74 MnT Billet; down by 58.07% as compared to 4.15 MnT in the same preceding last year.

In the duration of Jan-Nov’17 – Iran, Japan & Russia are the major Billet exporter to Thailand which exported about 0.73 MnT (42.00%), 0.34 MnT (19.29%) & 0.11 MnT (6.51%), respectively.

India remains the largest Pig iron supplier to Thailand.

In 2017 (Jan-Nov) – India, Brazil & Vietnam was the major pig iron exporter to Thailand which exported about 160,000 MT (53.45%), 50,000 MT (14.80%) & 20,000 MT (7.72%), respectively.

While in November 2017, it is observed that the nation has imported only 10,000 MT. Prior to this, in the month of Oct’17, same quantity has been recorded by the nation.

Trade wise

1. Billet (Size-150*150 mm) export offers are assessed at USD 510-520/MT FoB India.

2. The global export offers for steel grade Pig Iron are on upward trend. Our last assessment (18th Dec) stands at USD 345-350/MT FoB India & USD 355-365/MT FoB Russia.
