As per Iran Steel Producer Association (ISPA), Iran has produced around 14.60 MnT of DRI during the first 8 months of current Persian year (21 Mar-21 Nov’17). Production was up by 22% Y-o-Y against 11.94 MnT produced in last year.
As per Managing Director of National Iranian Steel Company (NISCO) Abdol-Majid Sharifi “Iran is one of the largest producer of sponge iron, and has the capacity of 19.50 MnT as of now, several other projects are running in Iran to increase the capacity of sponge iron. It is expected that by March’18, the capacity will increase to 31.5 MnT”.
Production of CRC during the first 8 months witnessed a growth of 34% Y-o-Y. The nation produced around 1.57 MnT in current Persian year against 1.78 MnT produced in last Persian year. On parallel line HRC production also increased by 8% Y-o-Y, Iran produced around 5 MnT in this Persian year against 4.70 MnT in last Persian year.
Iran produced 14.20 MnT of semi-finished product in current Persian year including Billet, Bloom and Slab, the nation witnessed a growth of 15% Y-o-Y. Individually billet production in current Persian year witnessed a growth of 16% Y-o-Y, the nation produced around 7.53 MnT of billet this year against 6.47 MnT in last Persian year. Slab production was up by 14% in current Persian year as the nation produced around 6.67 MnT in current Persian year’s first eight month.
