The winter season traditionally being a stocking period for the industry in China, imports of coal have escalated significantly. The result—coal stocks at the ports in that country have increased.
According to the information received, there was a total coal stock of around 7.6 MnT at the Chinese ports as on 15 Dec’17; and the stock level was around 7.7% higher than the stock level at around 7 MnT as on 8Dec’17.
The port stock status for coal inventories is shown in the following table:

Among the coal variants, Thermal Coal shipments from Indonesia and Australia dominated the coal stocks at the ports.
