South Africa: RBCT Coal Shipment up by 16.1%

World leading coal exporting port Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) has reported a 16.1 % rise in coal shipment and shipped around 6.1 Million Tonnes (MnT) in July 2013. However, Coal shipped in July 2013 is 1.8% less as compared to the same period of last year. 

RBCT port has received around 743 trains which is 3.6% more from the June '13. This also led to increase in port's coal stock by 9% at around 3.1 MnT. Year to date RBCT have received around 5060 no. of trains.

In the month of July, total 55 vessels have been loaded, out of which 38 vessels were Capesize vessels, 8 were Panamax vessels and 9 were Handysize vessels. Year to date RBCT have shipped 357 vessels including 248 Capesize vessels, 39 Panamax vessels and 70 Handysize vessels.

RBCT has shipped year to date around 39.8 MnT of coal to the world, which has increased by 2.3% compared to the same period in the last year.

Southern Asia – 38% (14.79 MnT)

Eastern Asia – 28% (10.95 MnT)

Western Asia – 12% (4.59 MnT)

Western Europe – 9% (3.40 MnT)

Southern Europe – 4% (1.65 MnT)

Eastern Africa – 3% (1.06 MnT)

Northern Europe – 1% (0.59 MnT) 

Eastern Europe – 1% (0.35 MnT)

Norther Africa – (0.20 MnT)

Western Africa – (0.19 MnT)
