Major merchant miners in Odisha have raised iron ore prices from today. Lump prices have increased by INR 400/MT and fines prices have moved up by INR 200/MT.
Sponge iron prices in eastern India have moved up by INR 600-900/MT in a week’s time.
Also the recent Supreme Court order to the miners to pay the penalty amount by 31 Dec’17 failing which their operations will be ceased. As per sources, major miners may submit the amount but small miners may not be in a position to pay it which may lead to some disruption in iron ore supply in coming days.
All these reasons have collectively supported iron ore price hike by Odisha miners.
