As per recent customs data, Russia has exported 0.46 MnT ferrous scrap in October month, ferrous scrap exports from Russia declined by 19% M-o-M in Oct’17 as exports were at 0.57 MnT in Sept’17.On yearly premises, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports witnessed rise of 15% Y-o-Y as exports were noted at 0.40 MnT in Oct’16.
Russia is world’s fourth largest ferrous scrap exporter after EU, USA and Japan. It annually exports around 5-6 MnT ferrous scrap. Russia exported 5.32 MnT ferrous scrap in CY16.
During first ten months of CY17 (Jan-Oct’17), Russian ferrous scrap exports summed up at 4.04 MnT, which were less by 7% against 4.35 MnT ferrous scrap exports during the same period in CY16.
According to the data released by World Steel Association, crude steel production in Russia stood at 60.42 MnT during Jan-Oct’17 compared to 58.64 MnT in the same time frame of last year, which was up marginally by 3% Y-o-Y.
Major scrap loading ports in Russia are North-West Federal district, Far East Federal district, Central Federal district and Southern Federal district.
Turkey remained the top destination for Russian ferrous scrap –
In the considered month (Oct’17), Turkey’s share was highest in Russian ferrous scrap exports at 0.17 MnT followed by Belarus (0.14 MnT) and South Korea (0.11 MnT) respectively. Other major importers of Russian ferrous scrap were Egypt and Spain with each 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap imports in Oct’17.
During Jan-Oct’17, out of total 4.04 MnT Russian ferrous scrap exports, Turkey imported 1.81 MnT occupying highest share of 45% followed by Belarus (0.97 MnT), South Korea (0.81 MnT), Spain (0.19 MnT) and Egypt (0.06 MnT) respectively.
Belarus registered 29% growth in its ferrous scrap imports while Spain almost halved the same, against ferrous scrap imports in the same time frame during last year from Russia.
