Brazil’s pig iron exports increased by about 34% Y-o-Y in November 2017, according to trade statistics released by Brazilian customs. The United States imported more than 45% of the total pig iron exports by Brazil (Jan-Nov’17).
In the month of Nov’17, Pig iron exports from Brazil were reported around 0.25 MnT, surge by 33% Y-o-Y against 0.18 MnT in Nov’16.
Further, in the first eleven months of 2017 (Jan-Nov) the nation’s pig iron exports increased by about 9% and are stood at 2.14 MnT which was 1.97 MnT during the same period in 2016. United states remains the largest importer of Brazil pig iron in Nov’17, has imported around 45%, followed by Netherlands (15%) and Italy (13%).
As United stated was the primary destination of Brazilian Pig iron it was also noticed that US imports recorded highest volume in Nov’17 at 0.17 MnT from Brazil which rose about 250% against 0.05 MnT in Oct’17.
However, month on month basis Brazil’s pig iron exports were down by 4% against 0.25 MnT in October owing to the less imports by Thailand, Peru, Turkey & Argentina.
Currently global export prices for basic grade pig Iron is assessed at USD 330-350/MT FoB Brazil & USD 345-350/MT FoB India.
