Brazil Billet Exports Decline 28% in Nov’17- Customs

Brazil, the world’s second-largest Semi finished exporter, has exported about 640,000 MT Billets in November 2017 which slips after the highest volume of exports in Oct,17, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.

In the month of November’17, the exports have decline by 28.08% M-o-M against 890,000 MT in Oct’17, in contrary surge by 18.51% Y-o-Y against 540,000 MT in Nov’16.

Coming to total exports in CY17 (Jan-Nov), the data shows about 6.94 MnT billet exports, surged by 23.92% against 5.06 MnT in the same preceding CY16. Further, on yearly calculation the billet exports were reported around 6.25 MnT in CY16 & at 6.90MnT in CY15.

With the increase of steel demand globally, the crude steel production of country was marked at 30.21 MnT in 2016. Meanwhile, in 2017 (Jan’17-Oct’17) the figure of crude steel production stood at 28.54 MnT

Country wise:

During November 2017, United States has imported approximately 31% (0.20 MnT) billets from Brazil. Inline the other largest importer of Brazilian originated billet was Turkey (0.11 MnT) & Mexico (0.09 MnT).

In the total billet exports during CY 2017 (Jan-Nov), the most favorable export destination of Brazilian billet was – United States (2.33 MnT), Mexico (0.65 MnT), Turkey (0.65 MnT), Germany (0.52 MnT) & Argentina (0.44 MnT).

In the month, the major export of Billets were from the ports of Vitoria (0.25 MnT), Pecem (0.24) & Rio De Janeiro (0.15 MnT). While approximately 43% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria till November 2017.
