Normal life was today disrupted in Orissa's Keonjhar
district in response to a bandh called to protest the halt of iron ore
transportation to various ports.
Vehicular traffic was paralysed while business houses downed
their shutters during the 12-hour shutdown. Goods train movement from the
mineral-rich district was also affected due to bandh, Railway sources said.
The Orissa government, however, maintained that no decision
has so far been taken to stop transportation of iron ore by trucks. People have
voluntarily supported the bandh and they believe that if transportation of iron
ore is stopped, the truckers will be forced to greater difficulties.
