Trade statistics released by Canada customs shows that the iron ore exports by the country were recorded at 3.33 MnT in Oct’17.
The iron ore exports recorded decrease of 10% M-o-M in Oct’17, as against 3.71 MnT in Sep’17. The Y-o-Y in Oct’17 witnessed a decrease of 8% as compared to Oct’16 which was 3.61 MnT.
During Jan-Oct’17 of the country witnessed a decline of 3% Y-o-Y in its iron ore exports to 33.19 MnT as compared to 34.09 MnT in the same period previous year.
The Non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed increase of 1% to 2.36 MnT in Oct’17 as against 2.33 MnT in Sep’17. However, the Y-o-Y exports recorded a hike of 3% in Oct’17 as against 2.29 MnT in Oct’16.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) exports recorded decline of 30% to 0.97 MnT in Oct’17 as against 1.38 MnT in Sep’17. It was down 27% Y-o-Y in Oct’17 as compared to Oct’16 which stood at 1.33 MnT.
Country- wise Canada Iron Ore Exports-:
China continues to remain the largest iron ore importer from Canada in the month of Oct’17 at 0.7 MnT followed by France (0.62 MnT), Japan (0.5 MnT), and Netherland at 0.5 MnT.
