Brazil: Vale Iron Ore Exports Down 7% in Nov’17

Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that the country has exported around 34.15 MnT iron ore in Nov’17. Brazil iron ore exports on yearly basis were up 9% for Nov’17 compared to Nov’16. However, exports were down by 3% M-o-M against 35.26 MnT in Oct’17.

Out of total 34.15 MnT iron ore exported by Brazil in Nov’17, 31.61 MnT iron ore which down by 4% M-o-M against 32.88 MnT in Oct’17. Remaining 2.54 MnT quantity exported in Nov’17 was pellets up 7% M-o-M against 2.37 MnT in Oct’17.

Vale continue to be the largest iron ore Exporter in Nov’17

Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exported around 89% of iron ore via sea route of the total Brazil exports. In Nov’17, the miner exported 28.15 MnT iron ore via sea route, CSN –1.65 MnT, Anglo American – 1.54 MnT.

Iron ore exports from Vale have come down by 7% M-o-M to 28.15 MnT in Nov’17 against 30.26 MnT in Oct’17.

China’s iron ore import from Brazil decline marginally in Nov’17 -: China, the largest iron ore importer of Brazilian iron ore, imported around 62% of total Brazilian iron ore exports in Nov’17 via sea route, followed by Japan 1.91 MnT, Portugal 1.6 MnTand Malaysia 1.47 MnT.

China’s iron ore imports from Brazil have come down marginally from 19.7 MnT in Oct’17 to 19.45 MnT in Nov’17.

Port wise Brazil iron ore exports in Nov’17-: Ponta Da Madeira accounted for 48% share in Brazil iron ore exports Nov’17 – 15.20 MnT iron ore was exported from Brazil’s Ponta Da Madeira. Other major ports for Brazilian iron ore export were Rio De Janeiro 24% and Tubarao Port 23%.
